Þrjár kenningar keppast um að útskýra þetta:

1: "það hefði verið miklu verra ef þau hefðu verið óbólusett" kenningin.  Hún er mjög vinsæl.  Samkvæmt henni, þá virka bóluefnin alveg eins og venjuleg bóluefni á allan hátt.

Til þess að hún gangi upp, og bóluefnin séu 99.9% virk, alveg eins og öll bóluefni hingað til, þá hljóta gamalmenni á Íslandi (á aldrinum 60+) að vera að minnsta kosti 1.500.000.  Eða heildarfjöldi Íslendinga er amk 9-10 milljónir.

Þar sem fjöldi landsmanna er ekki enn svo hár, þá gengur sú kenning ekki upp.

2: Bóluefnin er gjörsamlega gagnslaus, eins og saltvatn.

Til þess að sú kenning gangi upp, þá þarf Kína Kvefið bara að vera að minnsta kosti tvöfalt útbreiddara en það var 2020.  Eða tvöfalt banvænna.  Sem býður líka heim þeirri kenningu að fólk sé bara að deyja úr elli óháð veiru eða bóluefnum, þetta sé algert auka-atriði allt sem hefur enga merkingu.
